Math and Science for the Trades

Math & Science for the Trades program helped me greatly with the skills needed to enter the trades, and it was a great boost to my confidence. If I can do it, anyone can!

David Klaver
First Year Apprentice Electrical

The Math and Science for the Trades class at Academic Express is excellent. It gave me a great foundation for technical training at RDC. It also helped me understand how the apprenticeship programs work and get my career on track. I am now a first year Welder apprentice.

GED Preparation

Taking the GED at Academic Express has given me the prerequisites for acceptance into the Canadian military. The instruction I received was excellent and I would not have passed the math without taking the classes.

Aaron Vermeer

Taking the GED at Academic Express gave me the confidence I needed to pursue further studies at Grant McEwan College after being out of school for so long. The instructor was experienced and patient and I appreciated the small class atmosphere.

Samantha Lawson

I felt relaxed in the GED class because of the small group and the one-on-one instruction I received. Having a GED diploma is a definite asset when applying for jobs.

Women in the Trades

The Women in the Trades Program gave me a kick start to get a job in the trades. The Career Planning gave me the skills I needed to get an interview, a work experience and eventual employment as a welder. I use the math I learned on a daily basis. There are so many good things about the Women in the Trades Program. I highly recommend it.

Rosanna Lenz
3rd Year Apprentice Welding, Goldec Hamms

The math and science upgrading taught as part of the Women in Trades Program is very useful as it is specific to the trades. The Safety Tickets I obtained opened many doors for me when seeking employment. Also, I have learned skills to be a better person in both the workforce and personally. I would encourage anyone who is interested in working in the trades to register for this program.

Maureen Peterson
Journeyperson Millwright

The Women in the Trades program is an awesome opportunity to get where you want to be in the trades. I am apprenticing to be an electrician and was hired before starting my work experience. I've always wanted to work in the trades but struggled to get a job because I had no experience or background in the field. The Women in the Trades program gave me the certification to stand out and get what I want. The teachers at Academic Express are excellent and are there to help you with everything you need.

Community Support Worker

After graduating from the Community Support Worker program at Academic Express, I began working at Michener Services and am happy to say that I have found my calling. I absolutely love working with people with disabilities and wake up every morning excited to go to work. The theory I learned in class has helped me to be a confident and competent residential aid worker and has also helped me be a more positive person. Attending Academic Express has changed my life in so many ways. I can't thank the staff at Academic Express enough for providing this program to the community.
