Canadian Adult Education Credentials (formerly the GED) Preparation Program

Alberta Education is developing the Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC). This new credential is replacing the General Educational Development (GED).

The CAEC provides high-quality, made-in-Canada education credential that meets industry standards as a replacement for the GED. Employers, post-secondary institutions and others can count on the CAEC as a reliable indicator of Canadian adults' level of educational achievement.

Like the GED, the CAEC is for Canadian adults who do not have a high school diploma. People may take the CAEC for various reasons including:

  • To meet the educational requirements for current and future employment opportunities, or
  • To qualify for post-secondary education programs such as apprenticeship, colleges, or other workplace programs.

All CAEC Preparation classes are teacher instructed and are offered on a part-time basis.

Government funding, which covers tuition, books, calculator, and exam fee may be available. (Funding may also cover transportation and childcare expenses while in training).

Class Dates

• April 17 to July 10, 2024 (Continuous Entrance)
